OCD Care

Types, Causes & Effects of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder can develop from a combination of genetic, neurological, behavioral, and environmental factors. Intrusive thoughts often trigger repetitive behaviors performed to reduce anxiety, but these compulsions typically provide only temporary relief. Without treatment, OCD can significantly affect relationships, work, school, and overall quality of life. Early diagnosis and personalized treatment can help reduce symptoms and improve long-term emotional well-being.

Obsession-Dominant OCD

Primarily involves persistent intrusive thoughts, fears, or unwanted mental images that create significant anxiety and emotional distress.

Compulsion-Dominant OCD

Characterized by repetitive behaviors or mental rituals performed to reduce anxiety caused by obsessive thoughts, often interfering with everyday activities.
